Day 7: Bubbles

From the Cold Coast of Oregon, Kari found a nice accommodation in the little town of Brookings through AirBnB, just on the south border of costal Oregon. And there was bubbles!

Day 6: And then – the Coast

From we set off from Salt Lake City, we had the immense flatlands of Utah, the national parks of Great Teton and Yellowstone in Wyoming, the beautiful Sawtooth mountains of Idaho and the badlands of east Oregon.

And then – after hour after hour traveling through the landscape of nothingness – there it was; the west coast. The end of the great US.

Cold coast

And then came the coast, and with it – the wind and the cold!? Not that we hadn’t done our temperature research; (we even had 1st hand information that people were wearing ‘winter jackets’ in San Francisco in the mid of July?!), but to be honest, we had difficulties understanding it. California is supposed to be the Sunshine State, right?

From the intense 35°C (95°F) heat of Salt Lake City, the temperature was now 15°C (59°F). Yikes!

Day 4: Stanley

IMG 3778

IMG 3779Living never was this simple. Going to the post office? It’s across the street. Need a drink? It will take you 24 seconds (in a car). The library? 5 more seconds, as is the bakery and restaurants. The small town of Stanley lives up to its reputation no matter what that reputation is. And the view is fantastic.

We stayed at the Sawtooth Hotel which also have a restaurant, a bakery down the street, and a great view of the Sawtooth mountains. Price for our room was 70$ included tax. Great price, especially when compared to other lodging alternatives in town.

Day 2: Fourth of July Parade

Knut reports from the 4th of July parade in Jackson Hole!

Here Comes Trouble

Sure, the Cache Valley Malls photo booth might have seduced us to spend an amount of 3$ on a set of photo stickers, but real none of us had any idea they’d turn out this great!

Hog Car

So finally we are on the road! We have gotten hold of a car – a car so big, modern and ugly that we wouldn’t have been caught dead in it in Norway. But hey, as a car, it is actually quite nice.
